SudREN is a specialized ISP in Sudan. It provides affordable high speed Internet service to its members. In Feb 2011 SudREN started obtaining a whole sale Internet bandwidth of 155 Mbps (STM-1) from Sudatel Company. In May 2012 an additional STM-1 was obtained from Canar Company. In July 2014 SudREN has obtained an additional third STM-1 from Sudatel Company, having a total bandwidth of 450Mpbs. The Internet bandwidth is distributed to the 58 members according to the demand of the member institution with total bandwidth of 317 Mpbs. The monthly distributed bandwidth per institution ranges from 2 Mbps to 50Mbps per month, depending on the size of the institution network.
SudREN is one of the largest networks operating in Sudan with geographical coverage including all Sudanese states. The network connects nearly all public and private research and education institutions. The network is based on the national fiber network owned by Sudatel Telecom and Canar Telecom companies. SudREN has two Points of Presence (POPs) hosted at the University of Khartoum and Sudan University of Science and Technology. SudREN WAN serves the transfer of internal traffic between the members and for distributing the Internet band width to the members. SudREN also provides its members with periodical technical reports on the performance of the network.
SudREN is a Local Internet Registry (LIR) in Sudan. It is member of AfriNIC which serves the Africa region as Regional Internet Registry. The Allocation and Assignment of Internet Number Resources is AfriNIC's core activity. SudREN got an Autonomous Name and a large range of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Accordingly, SudREN allocates and assigns Internet number resources to its members.
